Very generous of you! To be honest, if I didn’t have any ties in Canada I can totally picture myself just going to japan for a couple years to learn japanese there. It feels like a dream, I’ll have to settle with going back on Vacation..

Yay! I’m going next year for a 4 week course! I’m heaps worried about lots of stupid things though like not being found when they pick me up from the airport, sleeping in and missing class, GETTING LOST!!!, and also having to make my own way back to the airport! >.< I’m quite hopeless. lolsipop

I really want to learn Japanese and I’ve even considered moving there but I’m a vegetarian. Is it hard to be a vegetarian and live in Japan?

@IPwnZombis Sorry, I’m not Ciaela, but I’m vegetarian and I’ve visited Japan a few times for weeks – it’s VERY tough to be vegetarian if you’re strict about it. If you don’t mind beef broth in your pasta and pork or fish broth in almost all Japanese food, you can eat normally, but if not you’ll have to avoid eating out as much as possible. I recommend allowing at least broth if you really want to live there (maybe fish), the culture simply doesn’t understand western “vegetarianism”.

@pratyeka I agree with this comment. When I came back from visiting my family in Canada I decided to try a vegetarian diet, and it soon progressed to a pescetarian, and then suddenly it went to, “oh wtf, there are chunks of beef in the vegetable curry I ordered”, and people around me un-necessarily worrying too much about where to eat. “Let’s go get some Pizza–OH Sorry, Micaela, I don’t think they do Vegetarian there.” It’s been a rough experience, for sure.

Oh how I would love to go to Japan to study. NILS looks really good as well. Unfortunately My bank account isn’t anywhere near the $10k+ I’d need for fees, accommodation and the need to eat. However I’ll be starting University here in Australia soon and they offer things such as 6 month study abroad in Japan funded by the government which is pretty cool.
